Fine Arts
The fine arts are integral to academic life at Cornerstone Christian Academy. Beginning in Junior Kindergarten, the arts infuse learning in a myriad of ways, including devoted time for specialized music and visual arts instruction weekly. Our music education program inspires a lifelong love for both vocal and instrumental training and a joy for the creation of diverse musical styles and genres. Our repertoire of musical instruments, including a classroom set of guitars, enhances the depth of music study and creates a music-rich environment at CCA. Our Logic and Rhetoric students have the opportunity to express their love for music in our Upper School Band.
Visual arts training begins in CCA’s early eduction program with an emphasis on the development of fine motor skills through arts-related activities and continues in developmentally appropriate methods throughout the entire course of study. In addition to weekly visual art classes, Grammar teachers incorporate nature studies, arts and crafts in the classroom, and studies in art history. In the Logic and Rhetoric Schools, Cornerstone has professional artists on staff mentoring students in drawing, pen and ink, watercolors, oil pastels, acrylics, clay, material arts, and photography. Nature studies and painting en plein air are just two of the ways the arts are infused with a growing understanding of God’s workmanship and His beautiful creation.
