When did Cornerstone Christian Academy open?

Cornerstone Christian Academy began classes Thursday, September 1, 2011, with grades K-9.

Where is CCA located?

We currently are leasing educational space at Abingdon Bible Church.  It is a wonderful facility with many classrooms and a gym.  

Who is directing the efforts of CCA?

CCA has a Board of Directors who oversees all the hiring of staff and sets the policies of the school. See a list of our board here. 

Is CCA accredited?

We are pleased to announce that Cornerstone Christian Academy has been approved for reaccreditation, for grades K-12, by the Association of Christian Schools International for the full five-year term from July 1, 2021 until June 30, 2026.

Our inital accreditation was from July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2021.

CCA is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), the Association of Classical Christian Schools, and the Virginia Council for Private Education.  ACSI is one of 8 accrediting agencies recognized by VCPE. We selected ACSI because it will hold CCA accountable for all the state academic standards in addition to holding us accountable for how well we integrate faith and learning.

What curriculum does CCA use?

We have selected the best curriculum that fits with CCA's educational philosophy and teaching methodology. Our curriculum choices include selections from ABEKA, Answers in Genesis, Apologia, BJU Press, Memoria Press and Purposeful Design.

What is classical education?

According to Susan Wise Bauer, author of The Well‐Trained Mind, "Classical education depends on a three‐part process of training the mind.  The early years of school are spent in absorbing facts, systematically laying the foundations for advanced study. In the middle grades, students learn to think through arguments. In the high school years, they learn to express themselves. What is the admission process?

CCA is a covenantal school that requires that at least one parent be a professing Christian.  The family must agree to support our statement of faith and our mission statement.  Visit the Steps to Admissions page of our website for more information.

What sports are offered?

For 2025-2026 CCA will offer middle school, JV, and varsity girls volleyball; varsity boys and girls golf; elementary, middle and high school cross country; middle school, JV, and varsity boys basketball; middle school and JV girls basketball; middle school and varisty baseball; and middle school and varisty softball.

How can I support CCA?

You can support CCA in a variety of ways. Your financial gifts help us to keep tuition affordable and make Christian education available to families in our area. Our "The Heart of a Lion” Fund will provide need-based scholarships, invest in our faculty, fund projects throughout the year, and create a margin for the operating budget. Each year supporters of CCA invest money to bridge the financial gap between the tuition paid and the actual cost of educating students at Cornerstone. Every gift benefits every Cornerstone student. How do I apply for employment at CCA?

Does CCA have a dress code?

Students at CCA are required to wear uniforms.  We have selected Lands End for our uniform provider.  See our dress code page for a list of approved items. 

Does CCA provide hot lunches?

Hot lunches are available to be purchased daily for $6.00-$7.00. The food is brought in from local restaurants, some of our lunches are provided by the following:  Subway, Chick-fil-a, and Food City Deli. Microwaves are available to heat food items for students in grades 6-12.

Does CCA provide any bus transportation

Currently CCA does not provide any bus transportation, but we can refer parents to other families from their area so they can coordinate carpools.
